Your pre-travel checklist
- Find your terminal on the booking and check return and connecting airports too.
- Pack toiletries within reach. Follow the instructions at your security lane.
Prague departure rules do not automatically apply at every airport. A connection may involve another security check. Save the return airport’s official website and check it before buying toiletries for your journey home.
Check the terminal before packing toiletries
At Terminal 1, pack containers of no more than 100 ml into one transparent, resealable 1-litre bag. Terminal 2 also allows one additional container above 100 ml, up to 2 litres. This does not mean unlimited large bottles. Check the terminal for your actual flight rather than relying on your previous holiday.
Container capacity matters
A half-empty 200 ml bottle is not a 100 ml container. Read the packaging before packing. Include gels, creams, toothpaste and liquid foods in your check. Lay everything out beside the suitcase at home and choose what you actually need; the security belt is an inconvenient place to reorganise your wash bag.
Separate medicines and baby food
The airport describes exceptions for necessary medicines, special nutrition and food or drinks needed by a child during the journey. Keep these accessible and tell security staff. This is not a general exemption for the family’s toiletries. Ask the airport about an unusual product before travelling.
Example: a holiday with a connection
List your departure, connecting and return airports. Save the liquid rules for each. If you want to keep the same cabin bag throughout, pack to the stricter verified limit. Check large toiletries bought on holiday again before the return flight: Prague’s rules do not automatically apply abroad.
Prepare for the security lane
Keep the liquids bag above your clothes. Present it separately at Terminal 1; removal may not be needed at Terminal 2 CT lanes. Follow staff instructions at your particular lane. You can take an empty bottle through security and refill it afterwards. Allow time for an ordinary inspection when planning your arrival.
Frequently asked questions
Can I take two large bottles at T2? The stated exception concerns one container, not two. Does it apply on the return flight? Check the return airport separately. Must toiletries leave my bag? Be prepared to remove them and follow staff. Check an uncertain item in the airport’s official list before packing.

Common questions
Does container size or remaining liquid count?
For the ordinary limit, container capacity matters. A nearly empty large bottle is not the same as a container up to 100 ml. Check your terminal before packing.
Do Prague rules apply on the return too?
Not automatically. Check official guidance for your departure and connecting airports. A journey can include several checks with different conditions.
What about baby food or necessary liquid medicines?
Prepare them separately and check airport rules for a reasonable journey quantity. Present them as instructed at security.
